Andrew Jackson Secrest Log House

The Secrest Log House was probably built sometime during the 1840's, around the time that Union County was being formed (1842), though some believe it may have been built even earlier. The homestead was situated on land owned by the Secrest family for many years in Monroe, N.C.

The Secrest Family's oral legend says that Andrew Jackson Secrest was named after Andrew Jackson, Sr., a family friend and neighbor of the Secrest's, and the father of the 7th President, Andrew Jackson. The original land was sold to developers and the home was donated and moved to the Museum in 1997.
